The Batgirl prologue truly hinders the film, and makes her later abuse and exploitation feel all the more dated, gratuitous and backwards. Otherwise, to the extent the film follows the graphic novel, it is compelling and perfectly watchable if not astounding -- Mark Hamill is excellent as always, but the tension could've been ratcheted up a notch or two.
Comic > Filme.
Not so special source material to begin with but it takes animated adaptation deprived of beautiful images from graphic novel to realize how lifeless the whole premise really is. Kevin Connroy manages to prove that Bale's voice is actually appropriate while the rest of the movie is worth a watch for every bat-fan, simply because of little nods to previous motion pictures and comic book history in general.
