With direction by “King of the Nudies” Russ Meyer and a satirical screenplay by Roger Ebert, Beyond the Valley of the Dolls is a big-studio version of a debauched midnight movie, following three young female rockers going Hollywood, in hellbent ’60s style, under the spell of a flamboyant producer.
