A little tough to rate this and 'Que Viva Mexico', the two major question marks from Eisenstein. Wherein 'Que Viva Mexico' was incomplete, 'Bezhin Meadow was outright destroyed. I hear pedantic ravings that this would have been his masterpiece, but film is a moving medium ('La Jetee' aside), and one cannot speculate off of a handful of stills and a proposed storyline. It's a shame, really
One of those movies that shout "What if? ". Nobody will ever know if this was Eisenstein's masterpiece. What we see from the stills that are left is a more human vision by the great pioneer of Sovjet cinema.
