An overlooked gem. Friedkin somehow made me care about college basketball, a subject I have no interest or past knowledge in and made me fall in love with it. The film bursts into action from the very first frame and doesn't stop, Nick Nolte gives an Oscar worthy performance and may never have been better. Nolte gives everything he has, supported by a director with vision and mastery of his craft. Great movie.
One of countless forgotten performances from Nolte, possibly the most underappreciated actor of his generation. The story is a bit contrived, and the plot points are forced, but it touches on an aspect of sports not often explored, and from a perspective not often taken).
