I finally found a film that is too violent for me. I don't know why it waited until the end titles to say that the cultist-torturers were part of a drug cartel. It played a worn supernatural angle for extra thrills, and as a result it ended up pandering to anti-Mexican stereotypes. If a film is going to do "real violence" to this extreme, it needs more clarity of purpose, imo. The irrational has its limits too.
