I had a huge crush on this movie when it came out, but my love for it has dissipated through the years. Although the visuals and the main duo of characters are quite appealing, the musical moments are just unbearable.
"A story about a brother who became a man by being a bear." This movie still does the Disney thing by implying non-white people, by being closer to "nature" are closer to "animality" and are therefore interchangeable with non-human animals. I am glad that it wasn't about the little bear being so good that he became human, but the Phil Collins songs were really bad. Joaquin couldn't even save it.
That's... better than what I imagined... the drama is handled fairly well, but on the other side the comedy bits just fall flat. It's not a bad movie but it just look like an half wasted occasion. Ah... and... Phil Collins, please stop singing random songs in Disney movies, you're not even a bear.
