Synopsis

Alexandre lives in Lyon with his wife and children, when one day he learns that the priest who abused him when he was in scouts is still working with children. He and two other victims of the priest, François and Emmanuel, band together to “lift the burden of silence” surrounding their ordeal.

Our take

While seemingly an outlier in the filmography of a director best known for his psychosexual thrillers, this scathing indictment of the Catholic church carries the riveting energy of his best genre work. Fast-paced and sensationally acted, By the Grace of God hurtles toward its damning revelations.
