Beautiful, interesting, incredible cinema.
1920. Traumatized by the war, Georges decides to change his life and travel to West Africa. With the help of Diofo, artist, and survivor of the Great War, they recruit villagers to work on plantations in Ghana. But Georges eventually has to return to Paris, desperate to find his place in the world.
Romain Duris astounds in this sprawling epic where the heart of darkness is found, not only on the battlefield, but in the deceptively idyllic aftermath of war. Probing the psychological wreckage of WW1, this continent-hopping odyssey also challenges the legacy of French imperialism in Africa.
