  • Loz Loory's rating of the film Champagne Charlie

This film is a bit of a carousing mess. The leads are wonderful. The songs, aside from the famous ones, could do with shortening. During the drinking song showdown, less of each one would have moved the plot along better. The final slapstick brawl suffers from repetitive floor thumping sounds and tired simulated fighting moves. Still, musicals are good fun, and the Victorian music hall setting works well.
