Synopsis

A family in São Paulo’s countryside accepts a mysterious guest into their home, only to discover he’s a wanted Argentine drug lord. With their house his new hideout, the family must learn how to live with a dangerous criminal while keeping up the illusion of an unchanged routine to their neighbors.

Our take

Bold players in a risky game, the characters in Carolina Markowicz’s debut feature make their obscene moves covertly. In this darkly comic portrait of morals made pliable by capitalism, the slow, quiet rhythms of rural life belie outrageous deals and lives of ardent desperation.
