  1. LETTERBOXD.COM/XESCIE's rating of the film Charlotte's Web

"the film should be a paean to life, a hymn to the barn, an acceptance of dung. But I think it would be quite untrue to suggest that barnyard creatures are dependent on each other. The barn is a community of rugged individualists...joy of life, yes. Tolerance of other cultures, yes. Community, no." • Letters of E. B. White

  4. Jessica McFarland's rating of the film Charlotte's Web

I loved this as a child. I appreciate it as an adult. E.B. White did a great job of working in grown-up vocabulary and themes along with enough cute animals and funny characters, so as a child you didn't really notice that you were learning. The movie captures all of this, and is beautifully drawn with well-spaced, catchy songs. Who would have known that a small gray spider could be so lovely?
