Our take

Framed with an elegant minimalism common of European cinema, New York is transformed into a transactional non-place in Lodge Kerrigan’s film of metropolitan alienation. Known for more garrulous roles with Mike Leigh, the late, great Katrin Cartridge is taciturn and glacial in this modernist drama.
