As strong a debut as I have seen this decade. In one sense a cloistered and very local investigation of the effects of alienation on the Russian Jewish diaspora, and on another level a very expansive statement on Russian history. This is a movie at once astringent and bursting w/ life and colour. Its implications end up being (as they must) spiritual. Ever a fan of 1.33/1, I am in love w/ these compositions.
complex story with open ending. many topics, but everything look realistic, especially when you try to read dramaturgy in colours, understand the worlds of main characters through the conflict of colors
