Cameron Poe is a decorated military officer who is sent to prison after killing a man while defending his wife. Seven years later he is paroled and put on a plane with other convicts. Everything looks smooth until Cyrus “The Virus” breaks out of his restraints and takes control of the plane.
This film is not currently playing on MUBI but 30 other great films are. See what's now showing
this is definitely one of those "it's so bad it's good" films...i find all the performances absolutely ridiculous that sometimes there's nothing better than watching steve buscemi singing "the whole world in his hands".
Revels in its own excesses. I can't help but smile from beginning to end every time I watch it. The daughter and wife turning up at the crash site at the end while "How Do I Live" blares is the biggest possible cherry on the top. They don't make 'em like this anymore.
Con Air is unashamedly terrible but not without cause. It is baffling how dumb the plot and characters are here and if Nick Cage's haircut/accent are any indicator as to whether the studio were in on the joke of the production, I'd be inclined to say so. The cast/crew seemingly had a blast making Con Air, it's the way action films should be done. Stallone took note of this (and it shows) in Expendables a decade later
