A former astronaut helps a government agent and a police detective track the source of mysterious alien pod spores, filled with lethal flesh-dissolving acid, to a South American coffee plantation controlled by alien pod clones.

Such a wonderfully wrongheaded example of the Italian rip-off. That perfect hear-say quality of the script ("What happened in alien?" "Some guy's stomach exploded..." "Well, we'll blow up a THOUSAND stomachs!") and dialogue so loaded with needless, poorly translated insults and a last-ditch romance that not even an 1950s American sci-fi film would have touched. Bon-Apetit!
Really enjoyed this B-series Italian Sci-fi horror from the 80s. The plot is not great, but the makeup/gore effects are not bad at all. An interesting variation of the alien invasion storyline, with some great moments.
A cash-in on the success of Ridley Scott’s Alien, Contamination is a "so-bad-its-good" movie, remembered today thanks to a bad script, lousy looking sets and poor performances, even from Ian McCulloch. Yet it is an entertaining movie because of how ridiculous the premise is, exploding stomachs and all. I also like Maurizio Guarini’s score, but given his calibre of work with Goblin, that should be a given anyway.
