Highly stylized and dramatized documentary that portrays the daily life of Palestinian artist Zuhdi Al Adawi whilst he was locked up in an Israeli prison. There are several segments sprinkled throughout the film that I found quite impressive, where they took some of the artist's drawings and tried to recreate and convey them and their meaning through the cinematic medium. In other words, really good stuff.
“The most beautiful thing that stays with a prisoner is his imagination.”
A stunning film about art as a tool of resistance, and an artist incarcerated. I marvel at how the film utilizes specific artworks to perfectly illustrate its artist’s isolation and endurance. Powerful, moving, and one of the best examples of what film and all forms of media are truly for. (#FreePalestine)
