I don't really see in this movie what people got so excited about. It's a regular found footage with over the top performances and some nice moments. The "scaring" routine gets old really quickly and I didn't dig the psycho-thing going on. I give it 2 stars for the final scenes, that's all.
While I understand the Duplassian need to conquer the independent film world, sometimes the work comes off as underdeveloped and cheap. When that happens you get home video quality and silly instead of scary.
Although Creep may interestingly only feature 2 characters in this found footage-esque comedy-horror film, it's sadly much more childish than funny or scary. The scares are mainly in the form of only bad, corny jump scares, and the few tense moments are underplayed. A decent twist comes at the hour mark in terms of Josef's intentions, but it isn't as nervewracking as it could be. Creep is a film that doesn't arose.
