Critics reviews

A glance held too long. Becker knows how to direct our attention. These small particulars both pull us in further and lead us to a greater understanding of the story and characters.

The first movie that really impressed me was directed by Jacques Becker. It was Dernier atout. The film that so impressed me was the work of one of France’s greatest filmmakers. One that I would worship. At age six, I could’ve made a worse choice. Dernier atout is a brilliant but minor film of Becker’s.
