I know this is supposed to be a remake of Jean Renoir's Boudou Saved from Drowning, which I haven't seen, but watching it, it struck more as a Hollywoodized (that's a neologism similar in intent to bowdlerized) remake of Pasolini's Teorema. Notable for Little Richard's stilted line readings and the ghastly interior decoration. Can there be a Bette Midler film without oodles of pink?
