This smart and decidedly modern romantic comedy from indie stalwart Nicole Holofcener follows the misadventures of a divorcée who finds herself making a new friend — and dating that new friend’s ex-husband at the same time.

An alternate title for Nicole Holofcener's wise and warm romantic comedy could have been "Nobody's Perfect," as forgiveness and accepting people's flaws takes center stage. Takes a pretty standard rom com conceit - a middle aged mom unknowingly dates the ex husband of a new client, spending time commiserating with both about how awful their exes were - and turns it into a perceptive and refreshingly grown up film.
It's extremely rare to come across with such honesty in contemporary filmmaking. It's very reminiscent of the classics that Holofcener herself places throughout. An excellent surprised anchored by two great performances.
A sweet movie, honest and funny. It's a casual movie (nothing extraordinary), but it's a romantic comedy that works (I feel that 95% of them don't). I was neither a fan of Julia nor of romantic comedies, but I enjoyed this (and now might like Julia).
nothing extraordinary, but there are truhs about relationships and love in this movie that aren´t heard of that often, especially not in mainstream cinema. and i´m so sorry Gandolfini died. he was a fantastic actor....and kinda hot, i think ;).
