In this animated tale, a tiny village is destroyed by a surging glacier, which serves as the deadly domain for the evil Ice Lord, Nekron. The only survivor is a young warrior, Larn, who vows to avenge this act of destruction.

Bakshi & Frazetta working together was like a perfect dream team when it came to this fantasy epic: dark yet gorgeous to look at (like other films of the genre made at the time), the animation's style looks pretty similar to AMERICAN POP since it's rotoscoped but it's still brilliant since you've got those guys & watching it was like reading a classic fantasy comic book for the first time in life. 4/5
"Make for the glacier! Man the dragon hawks!"
Fire and Ice is of the same quality as the tits and magic stories from Heavy Metal (which is high or low, depending on your taste). The attrociously repetitive plot of capture-escape is very thinly designed, allowing the scenes with monsters and similar badassery to really shine. It's only worth watching If Ralph Bakshi films are your comfort cinema as they are with me.
At the height of the sword and sorcery craze we got this production that combined live performances with animation drawn over every frame to make it as realistic as possible. A few moments are more exciting than anything the live movies has thrown at us and the story is classic barbarian fantasy with a heroine that oozes sexuality and erotic imagery as she goes through the movie with as little clothes as possible.
