The cast has great chemistry, some one-liners are cute and witty, but the film isn't as funny or as memorable as it makes itself out to be.. It tries to lampoon other romantic comedies, saying they're too cliche, yet this one is no exception to the rules.
Surprisingly good. The broad arch of the story is routine and predictable but the details are well-defined, well-written, interesting, and delivered with conviction and credibility by a top notch cast. I was completely engaged from start to finish. I even teared up right on cue. Damn them for manipulating my emotions so well.
Oh, wait, that's their job.
this is not original can people stop saying it's so subversive and unique, extra star for Patricia Clarkson and because it's not a bad film but it's certainly nothing special- also Justin Timberlake can't act
first hour is really clever, funny, and entertaining.. but the second half becomes a little tedious.. and the subplot with the dad with Alzheimers is stupid and unnecessary. but overall a good romantic comedy that doesn't follow the formula of most of them
With pain, I must say: There's some bad shots but this is a good movie.
To some extent it follows cliche, but it is smart, funny and modern. The acting is actually good, really. The CHARACTERS are complex, emotional, narcissistic (even in bedroom) and self defeating. The writing is good. Sure there's product placement and trends, but they tastefully make fun of themselves.
Gluck may soon be the Hughes of our time...
