  1. MATTEO BITTANTI's rating of the film Giulia Doesn't Date at Night

The stereotype describes Italians as bombastic, sunny, happy. But contemporary Italian cinema tells another story: Italians are depressed, sad, dissatisfied, empty. Italian cinema is post-apocalyptic. It merely registers the death of social relationships, politics, public sphere, moral dignity, values, goals. Italian cinema is about the End of everything. The great black hole. This is the End, my friend.
