A simply terrible human story takes away from the final product in this 24th entry in the long running series. Too bad because the creature effects are quite striking in this entry especially the new creation...Megaguirus. The battle royale is impressive but one would be happier seeing most of the human cast in this effort incinerated.
An underrated Godzilla flick with good pacing, a fun, campy tone and crazy idea after crazy idea (such as a black hole laser and too-short hacking sequence with an anime avatar). Character development is nonexistent and some of the post effects look weird and cheap, but those are easy to overlook given a lot of the more unique and cool sequences that can happen onscreen (such as a flooded Shibuya).
