I used to enjoy watching this a lot during my childhood, and it was also a fine introduction for me to exploring the works of Stephen King. Still good but underrated, that rat/bat-hybrid monster was weird but we would love to see the whole body anyhow.
To say the film doesn't live up to the potential of its source material probably isn't a fair statement to make, considering it was never Shakespeare's Graveyard Shift. It's bad – if not a bit dumb – in the way films based on King's work usually are, but still entertaining enough for what it lacks. That rat creature is genuinely quite horrible to look at though.
Such a fun little gore fest. Brad Dourif steals the show as he usually does, but the rest of the movie is just as wacky entertaining. If you love B grade horror movies (especially from the inventive mind of Stephen King) you might want to check this one out. It's a lost little gem like Thinner or Maximum Overdrive.
