John Waters goes mainstream, but it's ok! He's even better here. A sweet nostalgic portrayal of the early 60s in Baltimore, when teen dance shows reigned, segregation began to feel the strains of society, and Divine acts in both a male AND female role. D.F.T.R. Divine, you will be forever missed, you piece of divine trash.
Forget the remake and the Broadway musical, this is the real (and original) thing. John Waters replays the 60's his own trashy, wacky way. The dance numbers are a hoot, Debbie Harry and Divine are fab.
