I think this aimed at slapstick that is a type of comedy not in favor at the moment. How many of Mel Brooks lesser efforts contained immaturity and cheap gags, for example? I laughed at more of the bits than I thought I would and even when the execution missed the mark I could see what they were TRYING to do. I do wish Rob Brydon had been better utilized, though.
