Aleksey German Jr.’s wry satire of contemporary Russia sees an academic confined to his apartment after daring to draw a bureaucrat in a salacious arrangement with an ostrich. With its spatial limits outsized by timely themes, House Arrest is a David-and-Goliath tale of censorship and injustice.
