A young graduate can’t bring himself to accept a low-on-the-food-chain position at an office because he feels he’s overqualified; and the consequences of that decision. Mainly lost, surviving only in a 11 minute fragment.
This film is not currently playing on MUBI but 30 other great films are. See what's now showing
Impossible really to judge or rate a film on a bare 11 minutes of remaining footage, but I liked what I saw and have given Ozu the benefit of the doubt and 3 stars as it seems very similar to the other early silent Ozus I've enjoyed.
I don't know how to talk about this properly. Ozu is one of the best filmmakers of all time, and I feel what remains of I Graduated, But.... shows that we have lost what were probably some of his best films. What remains though, I don't really know how to grade. Hopefully a copy of the whole film will be discovered.
