I Still Know What You Did Last SummerDirected byDanny Cannon
Rushed to theaters after only a year in order to capitalize on the popularity of both the original and Jennifer Love Hewitt's exposed midriff, "I Still Know..." is about as crass and cynical as Hollywood sequels get. The absence of director Jim Gillespie and screenwriter Kevin Williamson is deeply felt; if it wasn't for comedic supporting turns by Jeffrey Combs and Jack Black, this would be unwatchable.
A totally unnecessary sequel with a terrible plot that makes the original look like a masterpiece as Jennifer Love Hewitt and new friends go to Bahamas to get killed off and scream their lungs out as if they were doing a classy Shakespearean play. When even the deaths are staged boringly you have done the most unforgivable thing in a slasher movie. The non-ending copying the original is the final slap in the face.
Nothing against the man, but if you told me in 1998 that out of all the cast members of this thing, Jack Black would go on to have the most high-profile career, I would have been highly suspicious of where you were getting your information from. Just goes to show you never know.
