I kept feeling the sand on my dry lips and imagined drinking an ice-cold lager after treading through the desert for days. But the film's brilliance is not limited to its' utter physicality: the characters are vivid and compelling, and their stories entwined form a very important narrative on the problematics of war. A very humane experience of a film.
Perfect structure: performances beyond representation, camaraderie spirit ("All against the desert. The greater enemy") and "one of cinema’s greatest drinking scenes" (apud BFI). Five stars. One of the best war movies ever.
