Beautiful, interesting, incredible cinema.
A montage of images contrasts Palestinian fighters in the Middle East with a French family watching television, combining archive and newly shot footage to explore daily life, political struggle, and the role of media across different worlds.
Originally shot by the Dziga Vertov Group as a film on Palestinian freedom fighters, Godard later reworked the material alongside new partner Anne-Marie Miéville. The result is one of the finest auto-critiques in cinema, an interrogation of one’s own complicity in the creation of political images.
