Didn't do a single thing for me. Combining the genres of vampire film with gangster crime drama is interesting if done right, but here Landis also combines that with erotic thriller, undercooked and unfunny comedy, police drama so it feels like it's being pulled in too many different directions. No-one comes across well here, and I need to see La Femme Nikita cos surely Parillaud's better in that. Already forgotten.
Not paced as well not because it's not creative, but because its ideas get in the way of actual character definition making its emotion too one-note. At times, its fun streak works beautifully, other times it drives its fantastic Goodfellas-by-way-of Dracula premise into the ground. The jokes alternate from clicking as flippant one-liners/situational humor to being obvious and not fully embracing their punchlines.
like other landis films, people usually don't understand this one. "Innocent Blood" is supposed to be an homage to low-budget horror films (as seen throughout the picture when some of the characters watch scenes from "Dracula" and other horror classics on TV) and, therefore, it is made to appear a little clumsy and short on production. BUT in that "little" detail lies the fun of this film!!!
Not perhaps as good as American Werwolf, but Landis take on the vampire genre has plenty of horror comedy elements to keep you interested .
Very Underated of course and full of director cameos i really like this film ,now can we have a proper DVD release!!!!!
