Comely teenage girl leaves her selfish tramp mother to wander around Shikoku, an old Japanese pilgrimage isle, on foot. She wanders over some nice landscapes, meets various people along the way, there are some sexy scenes for the prurient and, like most road movies, that's about it. Its title is easily the best thing about JOURNEY INTO SOLITUDE.
For a journey into solitude she sure spends a lot of time with people. The title and the above screenshot are rather misleading. I was expecting something more akin to an Akio Jissoji picture. Quite sweet in places with an engaging lead and beautiful scenery. Supposedly based on a novel. It feels like they might have skimmed through a few chapters.
