35mm. With Lazare Meerson's set design and Harry Strading's cinematography, an adventure of two in the space of History, the usual in a melodrama that prevails, which is all the more exciting as the director manages to imbue it with production values articulated in function of a narration without distractions: see the sequence in which countess Alexandra literally wakes up for the red revolution.
Robert Donat is one of my favorite actors. He does nicely here. Dietrich is used mostly for her glamour but she is a good partner for him. The movie that sets them off is one of those enjoyable romantic adventures. Nothing great but not bad.
