Really delightful comedy on conjugal mores and gender relations, this minor Lubirtsch film features a chubby Jannings in top form as Xaver whose cunning roundabout way of conquering his loved one leads him to the embrace of her sister. Such inversions are superbly evoked in such a short film, which includes hilarious moments on the elderly sister's abrupt and unappealing manners, before these being curbed by love.
Entretenida comedia que manifiesta en una de sus personajes a ese estereotipo femenino muy frecuente de Lubitsch durante su temporada alemana, la mujer rústica que a fin de cuentas será domada por un romanticismo, en cierta forma, también rústico.
A nice little movie, rough, funny: one side of the humor is the "Mary Jane's Mishaps" type, the slapstick, rough acting; the other, witty Lubitsch Touch. Beautiful use of deep focus and mountain landscapes.
