Directed by Mariano Llinás
Argentina, 2018
Drama
  • Spanish
  • English

Synopsis

In part two of La Flor, we pick up in the middle of a story about four French-speaking female spies as they and their hostage move towards an airstrip where they will face their opponents in ‘Operation Hercules’ for a final showdown at dawn.

Our take

Moving through genres and filmmaking modes, one constant remains throughout La Flor: Elisa Carricajo, Valeria Correa, Pilar Gamboa, and Laura Paredes, the four remarkable actors at the heart of the film. Entertaining throughout, the second part is composed of one episode, a winding spy thriller.

No further spoilers for those with the will as well as the means.

It might be an expression of similarly self-reflexive gallows humor that Llinás ends the film with a brief story of escape from captivity. The actresses, like the viewers, disperse into the expanse outside, liberated and in a sort of daze.
