His once-solid reputation irreparably damaged, a paleontologist, his assistant, and a swaggering tour guide are thrust into a strange world populated by dinosaurs, reptilian Sleestaks, and monkey people.

I believe the tone of this film was lost on most people. It was also marketed wrong. It is not a family movie, a children's movie, nor even a teen movie. A tongue is planted firmly in cheek as every 60s-70s sci-fi trope is thrown at the viewer. Genuinely pretty funny at times. Not essential viewing by any means, but certainly not terrible.
A ludicrous fantasy comedy based upon a far-out concept made for weekend morning viewing for the entire family in the 1970s. It has decent effects that is meant to be dreadful and I like that there has been attempt to respect the look and story line of the original show. The best with the film though is the title theme at the end of the film which is to good for the film as the film never ignites or is very funny.
Land of the Lost is a like a comedic Planet of the Apes. It's also what happens after you take one too many wing-dingers, if you know what I mean. In short, it's way better than the TV series because it isn't cheesy.
