Sung-cheol and Mi-sook are grieving the loss of their only son, who drowned rescuing a classmate. When Sung-cheol runs into Ki-hyun, the boy their son saved, he starts to take an interest in the young man. The couple begin treating Ki-hyun like their own kin, but something is not quite right.
Fans of Lee Chang-dong (Burning) will love this piercing domestic drama from director Shin Dong-seok. Told with subtlety and sensitivity, and driven by three powerful lead performances, Last Child is an emotionally incisive examination of loss and reconciliation that marks Shin as a talent to watch.
