1809, France. Captain Neuville is called to the front, leaving his future bride Pauline heartbroken. Her sister Pauline decides to write letters on his behalf to cheer her up. But it all goes south when Neuville reappears.

When you see Dujardin tell at a luncheon what was like to be at that battle & you see Laurent+Merland crying oh so softly/subtly and you see Atkine's dumbfound face (that he indeed fought there) you get why he actually won the Oscar for the 'The Artist'. Deserved. Shivering. He's hilarious, cowardly, moving and graceful. Not a common combo. Laurent is divine as the annoying told-ya-so, imma-unmask-you protective sis❤
