Critics reviews

The movie benefits from a very rich score by the little-known but prolific Fred Karlin, neatly incorporating classic Leadbelly tunes like House of the Rising Son, which is never performed in the film — snippets of it turn up, slowly turning recognizable, until it’s heard almost fully in the last few scenes.
