Synopsis

Carla is pregnant and naked, just like in the photos where her mother poses pregnant with her. Then, a young woman travels from the 60s to the present day, via the 80s, crossing the thresholds of femininity and history, until she meets Carla pregnant next to the blue sky of the Catalan coast.

Our take

Made while pregnant with her son, this grainy Super-8 gem from Golden Bear-winner Carla Simón (Alcarràs) glimmers with fecundity. Traveling through time and across generations and mediums—from letter writing and flamenco to various film stocks, it celebrates the promise of new beginnings.
