    Not a perfect film, but def unique in that mental problems and development issues were not exactly box office gold, or even attempted, in the 60s. I am a Mimieux (spelling?) fan, Time Machine, Where The Boys Are, etc and she really plays her part well. Hamilton is a bore and a big detraction imo. Miscast is an understatement. All in all a decent flick

    I am not sure why I enjoy this film. The book is better but the movie has a satisfying inevitability. Firstly, Yvette Mimieux is the image of a storybook princess. Italy is a beautiful background. Olivia de Havilland even with her sluggish delivery is a graceful presence. Rossano Brazzi acts the protective father with some subtlety. George Hamilton is goofy but endearing. There is plenty wrong with the film. Still...
