**1/2. Fantasy movie with some good ideas. Let's say that the places chosen by Jean-Pierre Mocky help a lot to create a strange atmosphere here. Some scenes reminded me of the Herzog of 'Heart of Glass' and 'Kaspar Hauser'. Recommended to curious ones.
Second attempt for Mocky in the sci-fi genre, mostly known for his comedies this film can disappoint by its structure and motifs. Quite a strange cinematic masquerade offered here. A nightmarish enchanting ambience but the whole film is weird (in a funny way), slightly self-indulgent with no real substance. However it expresses a certain charm.
Litan exists on its own gonzo wavelength. The film is overwhelmingly oppressive, adding visual flourishes subtle and very unsubtle to hit home a truth of unrelenting menace and inner perversity. The result is somewhere between the personal apocalypse of Silent Hill with the social apocalypse of The Purge. This would have been more effective, though, if there was actual logic somewhere to devolve from.
