Our take

Stripped of glamorous costumes, Catherine Deneuve is at her most animalistic in Marco Ferreri’s absurd exploration of bourgeois discontent, also starring Marcello Mastroianni. In reducing an erotic obsession to the devotion between a man and his pet, Liza makes a mockery of heterosexual romance.
