Our take

Unleashing a tidal wave of imitators, it’s hard to underestimate the influence Guy Ritchie’s feature debut had on the landscape of British cinema. Jason Statham—in his first film role—leads a cast of cheeky chappies through an intricately plotted and wildly funny reboot of the modern gangster movie.
