What are people saying?

  • J. O.'s rating of the film Loser

A sort of charming run-of-the-mill college film loaded with ridiculous fashion and a hip, nostalgic soundtrack of 90s favourites. The story is mostly predictable, most of the performances are awful (although seeing Jimmi Simpson as something other than Liam McPoyle was interesting), and the ending is abrupt and unsatisfying. In the end, it's just nice to finally see the movies whose ads you saw as a kid.

  • Jordan Kaltz's rating of the film Loser

Despite an obvious title (he's not a loser :o) this is a very good college film that avoids the generic conventions and pitfalls of other films of the genre. The characters are well fleshed-out and 3-dimensional and their motivations ring true, making the story genuinely touching. This film is Heckerling's best (far less one-note than Clueless and more engaging than Fast Times) and is truly underrated

  • john's rating of the film Loser

before 9/11, you could make a college film that wasn't viciously cruel
