very beautiful...the constant sounds of the birds and rustling leaves was especially haunting...but i couldn't really bring myself to truly care about any of what was going on? i feel bad not liking this as much as i feel i should because it has so many things i love (decrepit castle-like home, incestuous aristocrats, secrets, birds n so much more). there are many perfect moments but the overall effect is a bit empty
so good, i can't believe i hadn't seen it before! erika blanc is radiant and spooky and wonderful. it's basically a giallo with (most of) the lurid parts taken out, and stretched out to be slow as molasses and highly surreal/dreamlike. strongly recommended!
Poetic mystery thriller with a light giallic savour. Note the magnificent musical score by Giancarlo Chiaramello who's not afraid to use cellos in a B movie. Let's also admire the screenplay which mixes flashbacks and voice-over in a very subtle way. A movie to discover. Highly recommended.
Beautiful romantic drama featuring the amazing Erika Blanc. It's not a giallo but it does have a mystery that becomes more engrossing as the film goes on. The actors do a fine job and the classical music provides a refreshing change.
A well balanced mystery / thriller film in Italian countryside....slow and pointlessly complex (with its Freudian tendency) at the beginning but then goes into a maniacal psych-killer range. Incestuous love, moral depravity, same sex attraction, slight dose of sensuality (from a young Orchidea De Santis) and betrayal. Not a masterpiece but definitely a refined 70s Italian one, also a mention to the soundtrack.
