A political prisoner, Stefos Pergamos, escapes during his transport to Aigina’s prison and resorts to the hovel of captain-Nikolas, a farmer who offers him a job and a place to stay. Gradually, Stefos revives the farm, earns captain- Nikolas’ appreciation and charms Katerina, captain-Nikolas’ wife.
