The movie where Fernando Lopes focuses on the strengths of his previous films: the lyricism of ritualization in the frame (as in an opera staging, in a drama through music); the reinvention of folk traditionalism. But also the film in which his later weaknesses starts to reveal: a dependence on a fictional schematism, a conventional work with the actors. The academicism would follow, but not yet.
